‘Allen v. Farrow’ & More – Hollywood Life

The winter season is the perfect time to cozy up on the couch or in bed to watch the latest movies and TV shows. This February, the big networks and streaming services are bringing new and exciting content for viewers to enjoy. This weekend alone features the premieres of exciting new movies and docuseries, as well as the return of a fan-favorite series.

HollywoodLife has rounded up the key things to watch this weekend. There’s a plethora of new content coming out this weekend, including the premiere of the highly-anticipated Allen v. Farrow docuseries on HBO, a new Hallmark movie, the return of When Calls the Heart, and more. Here’s a list of notable movies and TV shows to watch from Feb. 19 to Feb. 21 across networks and streaming services.

‘Allen v. Farrow’

Allen v. Farrow is a 4-part documentary series that premieres on Feb. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max. The docuseries digs into one of Hollywood’s most notorious scandals: the accusation of sexual abuse against Woody Allen involving Dylan Farrow, his then 7-year-old daughter with Mia Farrow, as well as the custody trial and Woody’s relationship with Mia’s daughter, Soon-Yi. Allen v. Farrow features new investigative work that includes intimate home movie footage, court documents, police evidence, revelatory videotape, and never-before-heard audio. Mia, Dylan, Ronan Farrow, family friend Carly Simon, Frank Maco, relatives, investigators, experts, and other eyewitnesses have been interviewed for the devastating and eye-opening docuseries.

‘I Care A Lot’

Oscar nominee Rosamund Pike stars as Marla Grayson in this new Netflix thriller that starts streaming on Feb. 19. Marla is a professional, court-appointed guardian for dozens of elderly wards whose assets she seizes and bilks through questionable but legal means. Marla and her business partner and lover Fran (Eiza González) come across Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Wiest), a wealthy retiree with no living heirs or family. Jennifer ends up having a connection to a dangerous gangster (Peter Dinklage), so Marla has to take things to the next level in order to come out on top.

‘Mix Up in the Mediterranean’

Valentine’s Day may have passed already, but the Hallmark Channel is still all about the love stories. Jeremy Jordan stars in a dual role alongside Jessica Lowndes in Mix Up in the Mediterranean, which premieres on Feb. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel. The story follows Josh, who is cooking at the diner his parents once owned in his small Alaska hometown. His twin brother Julian, an acclaimed chef, ends up injuring himself so Josh agrees to pretend to be Julian in order to compete in one of the most elite culinary competitions in the world. That’s where he meets Meg, the ambitious organizer of the contest who is eager to prove herself with her first big event. Feelings begin to cook up between Josh and Meg, but the situation is complicated by the fact that Meg thinks Josh is his brother Julian, who is married.

‘Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine’

Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine is a 3-part docuseries that premieres on Feb. 21 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime. New episodes will air every Sunday through March 7, but the entire series will be available for on-demand streaming or download on Showtime and across all Showtime partner platforms on Feb. 21.

The documentary series will profile rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine’s rise to notoriety and spectacular fall to a convicted criminal. Supervillain will examine how Daniel Hernandez, a New York City deli clerk, turned himself into the viral hip hop sensation Tekashi 6ix9ine. The series is based on journalist Stephen Witt’s Rolling Stone feature, Tekashi 6ix9ine: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Supervillain, and will feature an exclusive post-prison interview with Tekashi.

‘For All Mankind’ 

The Apple TV+ series For All Mankind is back for season 2. The first episode premieres on Feb. 19 and will debut weekly episodes on Fridays. The new season picks up nearly a decade later in 1983. The Cold War and tensions between the United States and USSR are at their peak. Space exploration is still going full-speed ahead, but it’s complicated. The U.S. and Soviets are going head-to-head to control sites rich in resources on the moon. Joel Kinnaman returns as NASA astronaut Edward Baldwin, along with Michael Dorman, Wrenn Schmidt, Shantel VanSanten, Sarah Jones, Jodi Balfour, and more. The second season consists of 10 episodes. For All Mankind has already been renewed for season 3.

‘Flora & Ulysses’

If you’re looking for something super family-friendly to watch, Flora & Ulysses is right up your alley. The comedy-adventure is Disney+’s latest original movie and begins streaming on Feb. 19. Flora & Ulysses is based on the Newbery Award-winning book and a 10-year-old named Flora, an avid comic book fan and self-declared cynic whose parents recently split up. She rescues a squirrel she names Ulysses and discovers he has unique superhero powers that take them both on one exciting adventure. The family film stars Matilda Lawler, Alyson Hannigan, Ben Schwartz, Anna Deavere Smith, Danny Pudi, Benjamin Evans Ainsworth, Janeane Garofolo, and Kate Micucci.

‘When Calls the Heart’

When Calls the Heart, the massively popular Hallmark Channel series, returns for season 8 on Feb. 21 at 9 p.m. ET. When the new season begins, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) has finished her manuscript, while an unwelcome visitor stirs up trouble for Nathan (Kevin McGarry) and Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller). Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee (Kavan Smith) decide to cut their South American trip short, and Faith (Andrea Brooks) arrives back from medical school. Plus, Clara (Eva Bourne) and Jesse (Aren Buchholz) haven’t been getting along, and Fiona (Kayla Wallace) has a new business venture.

‘Tell Me Your Secrets’

Tell Me Your Secrets is a new psychological thriller series that premieres on Feb. 19, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. This series is the perfect binge-watch. Tell Me Your Secrets revolves around a trio of characters, each with a mysterious past. Emma (Lily Rabe) is a young woman who once looked into the eyes of a dangerous killer. John (Hamish Linklater) is a former serial predator who is seeking redemption. Mary (Amy Brenneman) is a grieving mother obsessed with finding her missing daughter. Emma, John, and Mary will be pushed to the edge, and the truth about their pasts will come to the surface. Enrique Murciano, Stella Baker, Elliot Fletcher, Xavier Samuel, Chiara Aurelia, Ashley Madekwe, and Bryant Tardy also star in the series.

‘The Crew’

Kevin James returns to TV in a brand-new comedy series. The Crew debuted Feb. 15 on Netflix. The series follows a NASCAR crew chief for the Bobby Spencer Racing team. The owner steps down and hands the team to his daughter, Catherine. Kevin and his old squad go toe-to-toe with Catherine as she tries to modernize the team. Any NASCAR fan will likely enjoy this new Netflix series. Freddie Stroma, Sarah Stiles, Gary Anthony Williams, and Dan Ahdoor also star in The Crew.

‘The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice’

The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice is Lifetime’s 400th original movie and will premiere on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on the network. The film tells the story of Mari Gilbert’s search for the truth behind what happened to her daughter Shannan, a sometime escort who disappeared after a “date” on Long Island. Once she realizes her daughter is missing, Mari presses the police for answers. Mari’s search to uncover the truth leads to the discovery of young women buried in shallow graves along Ocean Parkway in the area of Jones Beach State Park. The search for the killer is still ongoing, but Mari’s dedication to finding answers has kept the case alive. Kim Delaney stars as Mari, and Eugene Clark plays private investigator Herc Zinneman.
