The three-part documentary series Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine premieres tonight, Feb. 21, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime. You can also watch it on FuboTV (free trial), Sling and Hulu + Live TV (free trial).

Tekashi 6ix9ine, a notorious rapper, started life as Daniel Hernandez, a first-generation Mexican and Puerto Rican kid from Bushwick. He suffered deep childhood trauma, a broken education system and a gentrifying neighborhood before he transformed himself into a hip hop villain.

Known for his heavily tattooed face and rainbow hair, the rapper shot to fame as he charted the Billboard Hot 100 with a his singles. But he was also known for feuding with celebrities, including Trippie Redd and Chief Keef. Eventually, a horrific downfall of legal trouble would stall his career.

In 2015, Hernandez pleaded guilty to a felony count of use of a child in a sexual performance. In 2018, he was arrested on racketeering, weapons and drug charges. But the piling charges don’t stop there. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to nine charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery.

This documentary series will be filled with “emotionally charged interviews and never before heard audio unveiling a story that could only be told in the digital era.”
